From October 23 to October 30, a group of students from the study programme “Electronics” and “Computer Science” of the Faculty of Information Technologies (FIT) of Ventspils University College (VUC) visited Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HUASA) in Germany under the framework of an exchange programme.

In September, under the supervision of Professor Jānis Harja, VUC hosted a group of students from HUASA. During the visit, Jānis Harja gave a lecture on “International Aspects of Engineering Sciences” to HUASA and VUC students.

The group from HUASA were shown around VUC, visited Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre (VIRAC) and such Ventspils-based companies as SIA “”Ventspils nafta” termināls”, SIA “Hansamatrix”, and SIA “Bucher Municipal”. The students highly praised Ventspils city and its Blue Flag beach.

In October, the student group from VUC embarked on a journey to HUASA. Once there, students had the chance to visit the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Bio Process Engineering, laboratories of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, as well as to inspect the projects carried out by HUASA students. Also, VUC group visited a Volkswagen factory and the nearby car exhibition hall Autostadt in Wolfsburg, and became acquainted with Hannover and its culture.

The group from VUC consisted of students from the study programme “Electronics” –  Jevgēnijs Černovs, Raivis Dirda, Renārs Mičulis, Klāvs Reinis Ozols and Ernests Brēdiķis – and “Computer Science”: Raitis Ralfs Vecmanis and Henriks Apsītis. The group was lead by the enginner of VIRAC and VUC FIT lecturer Mārcis Donerblics.

The mutual exchange of student groups between VUC and HUASA takes place under the framework of a cooperation agreement. VUC is grateful for the financial support from the SIA “”Ventspils nafta” termināls”, allowing the students to travel to Hannover.
