The Faculty of Information Technologies (FIT)

 

 

The Faculty of Information Technologies (FIT) was founded in 2005 when the Information Technology Department was transformed in the faculty. During four years qualified academic staff members were involved, study programmes were created and licensed, modern learning infrastructure was created. Now there are three departments in the FIT: Department of Mathematics and Science, Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications. In 2008 Department of Engineering Sciences was founded. FIT is implementing Bachelor study programme "Computer Science", Bachelor study programme "Electronics", as well as Master study programme "Computer Science". The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (EBA)

 

 

The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) operates since the foundation of the Ventspils University College (VUC) in 1997. During the expansion of Ventspils University College in 2001 the Department of Economics and Business Administration became a faculty. Now there are three departments in FEBA: Department of economic theory and quantitative methods, Department of Finances and Accounting and Department of Business Administration.
FEBA is implementing three study programmes: Bachelor study programme „Business Administration and Management”, Professional Master study programme „Business Administration” and interuniversity Doctoral study programme „Business Administration” together with School of Business and Finance and Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration.

 

The Faculty of Translation Studies

 

 

The Faculty of Translation Studies (FTS) operates since the foundation of the Ventspils University College (VUC) in 1997, implementing the practice of internationally recognized business universities.  During the expansion of the VUC the Department of Translation Studies became a faculty. At the moment FTS consists of of three departaments: Department of English, Department of German and Department of Modern Languages and Intercultural Communication.
FTS implements four study programmes: professional Bachelor study programmes „Translation into/from English – Latvian – Russian/German” and „Translation into/from German – Latvian – Russian/Latvian”, professional Master study programme „Translation of Legal Texts” and interuniversity doctoral programme „Linguistics: Latvian diachronic linguistics, Latvian synchronic linguistics, applied linguistics and contrastive and comparative linguistics” together with Liepāja University.
