Ventspils University of Applied Sciences has developed a programme in cooperation with entrepreneurs and industry specialists. The core of the programme is based on the Team Academy principle, which has been very successful in Finland at JAMK University of Applied Sciences for more than 25 years. 47% of graduates of this programme have their business within 2 years of completing their studies, which is the highest rate in Europe.
Main benefits of the new bachelor’s programme:
The director and mentor of the study programme is Salvis Roga, a professional with more than 10 years of practical experience in business and business support sector. He is the founder and board member of the Kurzeme Business Incubator and Green and Smart Technology Cluster, as well as the member of the board of Ventspils High Technology Park. Deputy Director of the study programme and student mentor Guntis Čoders is the head of Accenture Latvia Kurzeme Region, co-founder of the IT startup Walmoo with 10+ years of experience in creating and developing IT startups, has been the head of the LIAA business incubator and Forbes Latvija “30 under 30” laureate. “As part of this collaboration, there was an excellent opportunity to create something new and relevant today, as many entrepreneurs and professionals acknowledge that in life a large part of the theory works differently, as it is presented in universities. In the course of studies there is a relatively small opportunity to properly feel the practical business environment and to make sure that the way of thinking and skills are a very important prerequisite for a successful business, not knowledge of theoretical facts,” says Guntis Čoders.
The language of the study programme is English. In lectures guest lecturers from well-known organizations – Accenture, Infogr.am, Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, TechHub, Skonto Enterprises, Digital Freedom Festival, etc. regularly will be providing their input.
It is now possible to apply for Business Academy Bootcamp 2019, a free 2-day practice event, which will take place in the second week of August, just before the start of studies. It is an opportunity to get acquainted with the team and other active people, to experience the study format, to get to know the learning environment, to gain useful knowledge and experience, and to introduce yourself. The ability of a student to prove that he is ambitious, willing to be active and work in a team will be essential for admission to the bachelor's program.
