For many years now, VUAS International Office has been cooperating with Zuru Elementary school English teacher Kristīne Dane. With her help the International Office could practice English with students from 3rd to 9th grade in an informal setting - with games, questionnaires and interactive materials.
Smaller children were welcomed by the mascot of the university - a bird, in the interpretation of the new Italian intern of the International Office - Antonino. For older students, Antonino presented some facts about Italy, also sayings in Italian. Afterwards, the students could participate in an interactive game and were introduced to the opportunities of the Translation Studies Faculty. The game included greetings in other languages and the players had to choose in which language the greeting is and the International Office must admit that some students of Zuru Elementary school showed really good results.
It is always an exciting time to go Ventava, to have VUAS students present their countries, and give a chance to Zuru Elementary school students to ask questions, answer questions and win some small gifts for their attentiveness. Students enjoyed the different setting of an English lesson and some showed their interest into studying at VUAS.
“You can never understand one language until you understand at least two.” – Geoffrey Willans. VUAS International Office hopes that visits like these will motivate Zuru Elementary school students to learn not only English, but also, to learn different languages, to understand themselves better and pursuit their deepest dreams and desires.
