The general application procedure for all English-taught study programs:


Application deadline for International Degree Seeking Students

Applications for studies in English-taught study programs are accepted for studies in the Autumn (September) semester only.

April 1, 2019 – July 15, 2019 Citizens of the European Union (EU), member states of the European Economic Area (EEU) and Swiss Confederation. Countries whose citizens may enter Latvia without a visa. (See Annex No. 5) Citizens of countries not listed in the Annex of the Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 554. (See Annex No. 4)
April 1, 2019 – June 30, 2019 Applicants from countries listed in the Annex of the Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 554 (See Annex No. 4.)

The general application procedure for all English-taught study programs:

The candidate must complete the online application form and attach the following documents:

  • Documents of Secondary or Higher education. The average grade should be at least 60%. Original documents in English, German, French or Russian may be submitted. All other languages must be translated into English. Translations need to be notary attested and certified.

  • IELTS (6.0 and over), TOEFL (PBT) 550 or (IBT) 70, London Language Test or Longman Language Test. If the candidate has not passed an international English language test, the candidate ought to pass VUAS online English language test (achieving at least 60%) free of charge.

  • Curriculum Vitae (resume);

  • A copy of the applicant’s passport (including a note “Submitted for use by Ventspils University of Applied Sciences”, date and time);

  • One photo 3 cm x 4 cm (in case the applicant has signed the consent of the Data Subject).

Upon completing the online application form, the candidate should send a confirmation email to before the application deadlines and confirm his/her willingness to pursue studies at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences.


I have submitted all the required documents – what happens next?

Unless you have already made the payment, an application fee invoice for 150 EUR will be sent to you. The deadline for paying it is usually two weeks from the date of issue.

How to pay the application fee:

  • You can transfer the application fee (150 EUR) via Western Union or Money Gram. For details contact the International Office of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS)

After receiving the payment, we will proceed with the application process and let you know if we have all we need from you and then send your documents for evaluation. You can read here about the academic recognition of foreign qualifications. The recognition process takes about a month and a half.


The long awaited decision about your education documents has been received. Next steps:

  • A Skype interview and/or entry tests for the desired programme;

  • A new invoice that includes first year tuition fee, security deposit 500 EUR and health insurance for a year for 161.40 EUR (optional) will be sent to you. Other items (like courier fee etc.) will be added depending on the country you are from;

  • Drafting of your study contract;

  • Applying for D category visa to enter Latvia;

  • Applying for a temporary Residence permit.
