Talking to students daily reveals how strong we need to be to accept the new situation and move forward and meet our goals despite everything. We are happy for our students, who do not succumb to difficulties but are looking for practical solutions to rearrange their daily lives so that it is as comfortable as possible.
Today we want to share the study experience of our student Jolanta Zaklina (Žaklīna) during the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the restriction of full-time studies in person because of the Covid-19, I had a lot to do, for example, buy a high-quality microphone and a camera to participate actively in the classes. At first, it was hard to get used to the situation because everything changed. I have noticed that it was harder to motivate myself when studying at home. I have interacted with lecturers and classmates only online, which seemed strange. The classes took place on the BBB platform, not in lecture rooms. I did not have to go to university anymore. However, before each lecture, I had to ensure that the computer, headphones, and microphone worked. Sometimes, I had to solve different technical problems. I have spent a lot more time in front of my computer, so it was essential to find time for walking or riding a bike. The studies during Covid-19 also have challenged me, checked whether I was able to adapt. Nevertheless, I have completed all the challenges and realized that the place you are studying in (room in a house, lecture room) is not that important. The most important thing is for a student to have a desire to gain knowledge and develop skills.
